cult /kəlt/

noun

noun: cult; plural noun: cults

a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.

Sounds like religion, doesn’t it? Why does the definition of “cult” sound like religion? Because ALL religion is cultish by its nature. It’s all just a matter of degree and the amount of damage the cult / religion does.

The show commences with Michael and Daniel rehearsing their own experiences in the cult they were both immersed in “The Word of Faith Movement”. The folly of it all and the tragic nature of religion in general and specifically in their experience are reviewed. Daniel reminds us how so many Gospel Revolutionaries are here because, “They took Christianity seriously”. Michael underlines Daniel’s total submission into the cult they both were apart of and DTR’s walk into freedom.

We discover again why the Gospel is the opposite of a cult with Don Bartlett’s famous suggestion, “Don’t outsource your thinking”!

It is all quite revealing and uplifting including today’s “Bringing in the Poor” Command of Christ the guys delve into, “These teachings compared to the Gospel are buffoonery! … If you have a ‘personal’ relationship with Jesus, you do not understand the Gospel…In this atmosphere of absolute equality, there is no reward (or punishment) for doing good or bad…A mind operating by these concepts is not mentally or emotionally stable.”

Yes, this podcast is provocative to be sure AND to the saving of your soul. Again!

ENJOY!
