Well, there it is. Rosie O’Donnell, the new co-host on ABC’s “The View”, laid it out there during their televised discussion of 9/11. And the outrage has just begun. But is she right?
To paraphrase a former President, “it depends on what the definition of right is?”
It is pretty apparent that radical Moslems are a much greater threat to our physical lives and our economic well-being. Still, from a spiritual perspective, the two radical religions are kissing cousins.
Recently Fox News Channel reporters Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig were kidnapped by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza. Just prior to their release Centanni and Olaf were made to “convert” to Islam at the point of a gun. Are they Moslems now, righteous in the site of Allah? Not so much.
At the same time that this “conversion ceremony” was taking place in the Middle East, thousands of other human beings were being “converted” to Christianity. However, instead of a weapon being brandished at their temples, they were being threatened with spending eternity in a torture chamber known as hell. With that kind of forever confronting them did praying a prayer and/or coming forward in front of a pulpit, cause them to now be in good standing with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Not on your life or on their lives! But because of the life of Jesus their righteousness had already been assured. It happened 2,000 years ago when God manifested His Love on a tree not too far from where those reporters had been captured. When Jesus Christ was being tortured to death by Roman soldiers, He prayed “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” This scenario begs the question, did the Father answer yes or no to His only Begotten Son’s prayer?
We believe He answered with a resounding “YES”! And there, upon the death, burial, and resurrection of the Messiah ALL the world was forgiven of their sin and made right with God. Rosie O’Donnell, Steve Centanni, Olaf Wiig, the knuckleheads that kidnapped them, Christians, even Mike Williams and Glenn Klein, et al, were in one fell swoop all made perfect as far as the Almighty is concerned.
This is what the Bible says. This is what our heart tells us. This is how a loving God responds to the internal and eternal longing for oneness with the One.
