Dear Beautiful Humans,

Do you believe in a Creator?

Do you believe He created the Universe?

Me, too.

Do you believe that He formed Adam from dirt and molded Eve from a rib of her man, that Satan through a snake literally spoke to her, that Noah made an ark and animals came aboard, that Moses parted the Red Sea, that Daniel stared-down the lions, that Mary conceived as a virgin, and that Yeshua was raised from the dead?

Are you nuts?

Maybe not so much.

Do you believe that God was full of anger and wrath and judgment? Do you believe that the “God of Love” commanded Israel to commit mass-genocide? Do you believe God predestined the human sacrifice of His own Son in order to assuage His own unrelenting torment in order to achieve the long-awaited and prophesied Peace Accord between Himself and His Creation?

Are you getting saved?

Me, too.

We in the Gospel Revolution have not yet begun to scratch the surface of the enormity of the effect that the Cross had on the human race and this world.

Everything changed on that day in Jerusalem 2000 years ago. Literally a New Heaven and a New Earth came into existence. An entire New Creation, a entire New Race of Humans came forth.

How new?

Here’s how new: that today–to this New Creation of People–the thought of God manipulating EVERYTHING even to the point of having animals speak to human beings or stopping the sun in the sky or having a human walk on water is so irrational that even many Christians have to explain away their own “faith” to atheists and other skeptics who understandably look at those Biblical moments as nothing more than fairy tales.

But that’s not the whole story.

Before Christ to After Christ? Things changed big time!

Let me state this as clearly as I can. On this side of the Cross, the inhabitants of the Earth–who in reality have ALL been born not in sin as religion teaches but were born in righteousness–are so radically and dramatically different than those born prior to the Cross that anybody who believes that the things of the Scriptures and the Old Testament like those outlined above could possibly happen TODAY are dealing with a mind that is in serious need of salvation.
So, too, for those minds that believe you must confess your sins in order to be forgiven, participate in cracker-eating and juice-drinking for communion with God or getting sprinkled or dunked in water to be baptized in the faith, or pray in order to receive special provision or dispensation from the Almighty.

However, if one believes in a God who created EVERYTHING, every planet, every star, every galaxy, every universe—then how much of a stretch is it to believe that at one point (before the Cross) He was doing some pretty wild stuff through and with His creation? I mean if He formed the Milky Way, how hard would it be to have a jackass turn around and talk to his master?

For me, it is the most logical thing in the world to believe in a creator. When confronted with a creation, any creation, whether it be a car, a house, a piece of art or pottery–if there is order and form to it, if we can see it, somebody must have made it. Just because we have not met him or her, cannot see them, have never heard their voice or know their name, does not mean they didn’t create or exist. Even the staunchest atheist would agree with that.

Mike says it this way: If the Scriptures are not true and the stories contained in them did not supernaturally set the stage for Christ, then how could they have revealed the Truth of the Gospel which we KNOW touches our souls so profoundly?

Either the Gospel is truth or it is not. We believe it is the Truth as revealed in the truth of the Scriptures (the Scriptures as defined by Christ being solely the Law, the Psalms, and the Prophets). However, once the Truth was fulfilled through Christ, there was nothing more to foretell, to prophecy, to judge, to manipulate, and predestine. That Old World was judged and destroyed at the Cross, a New World emerged.

And then God rested in us, all of us, forever.

It was FINISHED. And then it began anew.

This New World is so radically different from the Old that sane people on this side of the Cross either have to rationalize the old as parable or as just being make-believe. OR perhaps, like many of us in the Gospel Revolution, sane people today can understand how the Scriptures could have actually happened, in what paradigm they took place, and for what purpose.

We know the Scriptures are true because they revealed the Truth, the Gospel, the Power of God to the saving of our soul. The Gospel produces a progressively rational, vital, logical mental disposition especially as it is continuously, persistently, and repetitively considered.

Talk about a miracle!

So, like animal sacrifice, the crumbling of the walls of Jericho, prayers that once were answered by God, the first-born of the entire nation of Egypt dying at once, AND God literally creating the Heavens and the Earth—I believe it all happened for a purpose. And that purpose was accomplished and finished on the alter at Golgotha.

We have a lot to contemplate and rejoice over. Regardless of where you are on these issues, whether you think some of these stories are mythical to produce a reality or that they all actually occurred, the Gospel is just as vital and active in your soul as anyone’s. In addition, whether they are myth or fact, they cannot be separated from the Gospel for out them sprang the very issue of life.

We’re just getting started. Hold on. It’s going to be a helluva ride. The story continues…

Shalom Everybody!
