Gods like Janus have personalities disorders. One religion claims its god is a god of love as it throws living people into hell to suffer forever. Oh, the insanity!

Thanks for this. I am still having trouble with the scriptures in the Bible that portray God is the God who kills and ask others to kill for Him, etc. How do I handle these scriptures that show God to be contrary to loving God?
Hey there Chong Wong. You wouldn’t happen to be someone else by a different name would you? LoLz 😉
I think that the answer to your question lies in our very limited knowledge as humans. The Bible makes two things really clear! (1) just how contradictory God appears to be, even to the point of having ‘human’ tendencies such as jealousy, anger and tit for tat vengeance apparently, and (2) how His thoughts and actions are SO different to our as to guarantee that we will NOT get His motives or understand what is behind His actions.
As to the second one. When we are faced with such apparently dichotomous situations, we have two choices; either to dismiss what displeases us, or to accept our limited knowledge. God nowhere stated in the Bible that He would explain Himself to us down to the minutest details – just never did it – quite the contrary in fact. Most modern grace teachers prefer to dismiss out of hand that which does not measure up to their limited knowledge. To me, that is simple pride at work wherein we worship our wills over the truth, and by deciding that we know the truth already, clearly cripple our future understandings. We see this most6 clearly when people say that Jesus of the NT is nothing like Jesus of the OT. How do they KNOW????? They don’t. A mother in Texas, shot dead a man at a gas station who was stealing her car with her kids in it. That man saw an entirely different side to that gun totin’ good ole gal that her keds EVER saw. Was she the same person? Of course. I posit, that we as humanity are not yet sufficiently mature so as to be able to yuet come to a satisfactory conclusion as to your question. This is not me evading your question – this is me simply saying, “I don’t know.”.
First, the scriptures are Jewish and are written to and for the Jews. Therefore, they aren’t material to my life because I’m not a Jew, so ask the Jews about their scriptures, not me.
Second, the New Testament isn’t scripture, it’s commentary on Jewish scripture. Plus, it wasn’t written to me or for me.
Third, I know all about love because I’ve experienced love’s power. In my experience, love’s divine. No one can see, taste, or touch love, but we can see, taste, and touch Love’s results. Love’s all over the planet at one time. Anyone can experience this example by observing mothers and their children anywhere around the globe at any given time.
Finally, I’m sure that as long as there’s been humanity on this earth that there’s been love. Love has always existed and will always exist. That means there’s only one conclusion I can come to and that conclusion is Love is divine. Nevertheless, notice that I didn’t conclude that “God is Love” because the Jews have to defend that concept, not me. I can defend love easily.
