Or…
Light
Teaching and Understanding the Paleo-Hebrew
Document 11 of 11
Genesis 1:3. Vayomer Elohim yehi or vayehi or. And Elohim said let there be light and there was light.
The first spoken word of creation. The first thing called into existence. The first declaration that broke the silence over the choshech and the tehom, the darkness and the deep, in the second verse. Elohim spoke. And the first thing spoken was or. Light.
Not the sun. Not the stars. Not the physical sources of illumination that would be created on the fourth day. Or, light itself, called into existence before any physical source of it existed. The light preceded the lamp. The declaration preceded the thing that would later carry the declaration. Three letters. Three pictures.
The Three Pictures
א Aleph — Ox Head — Strength, The First, The Strong One
The first picture of light is the Aleph, the ox head, strength, the first, the strong one. The same Aleph that opens Bereshit in the third letter. The same Aleph in Elohim as the strong one who teaches. The same Aleph in the Aleph-Tav, the first and the last, standing in the first sentence between the creator and the creation. Light begins with the picture of the strong one. The first. Or, light, is declared first through the picture of the one who is first and strongest.
ו Vav — Nail or Tent Peg — Connect, Fasten, Hold Together
The second picture of light is the Vav, the nail, the connector, the one who holds both sides. The same Vav in the name YHWH, behold the nail, the third letter of the divine name. The same Vav in Ruach, the nail in the breath of YHWH hovering over the waters before the light was called. The same Vav in bara, the act of creation. Light carries the nail in its second picture. The strong one, the nail, the connector who holds both sides, present in the word for the first thing spoken into existence.
ר Resh — Head of a Man — First, Highest, The Rosh
The third picture of light is the Resh, the head, the rosh, the first and highest. The same Resh in Bereshit, the head in the house. The same Resh in Ruach, the head in the breath. The same Resh in bara, the head in the act of creation. Light closes with the picture of the head. The strong one, the nail, the head. Or, light, declared in three pictures that carry the identity of the one who spoke it into existence.
What the Three Pictures Together Declare
Aleph. Vav. Resh.
The strong one. The nail. The head.
Light in the Paleo-Hebrew pictures is not primarily a physical phenomenon requiring scientific description. It is an identity declaration. The strong one, the Aleph, the first, connected by the nail, the Vav, the one who holds both sides, to the head, the Resh, the rosh of all things. Light declared in three pictures that carry the identity of the one who called it into existence.
The Aleph and the Resh that bracket or are the same Aleph and Resh that Yeshua declared himself to be in Revelation 1:8, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Aleph and the Tav, the first and the last. The first letter and the last letter of the alphabet. And in the word for light, the Aleph is the first letter and the Resh is the last letter. The strong one and the head. Bracketing the nail between them. The first and the last holding the nail.
The strong one. The nail. The head. The word for light in Paleo-Hebrew carries the identity of the one who spoke light into existence. The Aleph and the Resh bracket the Vav, the first and the head holding the nail between them. Light declared through the pictures of the one who is light.
The Nail in the Light
The Vav, the nail, appears in the name YHWH, in the word Ruach, in the word bara, and now in the word or. The nail is in the identity of YHWH. The nail is in the breath of YHWH. The nail is in the act of creation. The nail is in the light. The same picture. In every declaration leading to and including the first spoken word of creation.
This is the pattern the Paleo-Hebrew pictures are showing. The nail is not incidentally present in these words. The nail is the connector, the one who holds both sides, and every act of YHWH in the first two verses of the Torah carries the connector in its pictures. The covenant is being woven into the language of creation from the first letter of the first word. The nail in bara. The nail in the Ruach hovering before creation begins. The nail in or, the first spoken word of creation.
Yochanan 1:4-5, in him was life and the life was the light of humanity. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. The light of humanity, or, is in the one in whom all life resides. The strong one, the nail, the head. In him was life and the life was the light. The pictures of or carry the identity of the one in whom the light resides. Not a physical phenomenon called into existence independently. The declaration of the one who is light, spoken first before any physical source of light existed.
The nail is in the light as it is in the name YHWH, in the Ruach, and in bara. The connector who holds both sides is present in the first spoken word of creation. The covenant woven into the word for light before the sun exists.
Yehi Or… Let There Be Light
The full declaration, yehi or, is itself worth examining briefly. Yehi, let there be, let it come to be, let it exist. Yod, Heh, Yod. The hand, the behold, the hand. The two hands of the divine name, the Yod appears twice in yehi, framing the behold. The hand, the behold, the hand, declaring the coming into existence of or, the strong one, the nail, the head.
The declaration of light, yehi or, carries four pictures of the divine identity before it reaches the word for what is being created. The hand. The behold. The hand. And then, the strong one, the nail, the head. The identity of the one who speaks and the identity declared in what is spoken are the same pictures. The hand and the behold of YHWH’s name in the declaration. The strong one and the nail and the head in the thing declared. One declaration. In two words. The speaker and the spoken both carrying the same identity in their pictures.
And then vayehi or, and there was light. The same structure. The Yod and the Heh and the Yod again, the hand, the behold, the hand, and then or. The declaration made. And the declaration fulfilled. The first act of creation in which the speaker and the spoken and the fulfillment all carry the same pictographic identity. Before the sun. Before the stars. Before anything physical that carries light exists. The light itself declared through the pictures of the one who is its source.
Or, the strong one, the nail, the head. Light declared through the pictures of the one who called it into existence. The nail in the light as it is in the name YHWH and in the Ruach and in the act of creation. The first spoken word of creation carrying the identity of the one who spoke it.
