Isn’t is fascinating how a myth, in this case hell, turns into a cultural meme and then turns into a “fact!” Isn’t it also fascinating how so few people ever question the “facts” of their religion! It seems as though once an idea is seeded in the mind and culture, the inertia required to get people to take a step backward and reconsider their belief is immense. It’s sad to say, but the overwhelming majority of humanity are too fearful to reconsider their religious beliefs. They intuitively know that rejection will be forthcoming from the thought ghetto (church) they attend and that rejection is too painful for most. Their bondage to group think is preferred.
