Christianity has had 2 millennia to prove the truth of its promises, sow peace rather than discord, and bring the gospel of peace to the whole of humanity. It has not only failed in its mission, but has become an embarrassment to even its own followers. 2000 years and multiple schisms later, it is time to say enough is enough, and let the dead, bury their dead!
Roman christianity was all too aware of the fact that if we taught the Bible the way it was understood by the earliest church fathers the way that they understood it in their OWN language, (i.e. that where there was no Law there was no trespass), then they would lose all manipulative control over the masses. Pauls most used phrase was “in Christ”. Modern christianity preaches that once converted, Christ is in us and we are in Christ. At the same time, it relies on its self-appointed orthodoxy to maintain that we are all sinners saved by grace. We need once and forever to decide whether we are the righteousness of God in Christ, or we are sinners. (2 Cor 5:21) IF we are sinners, and if we are in Christ and vice versa, then God has quite clearly chosen to happily get into bed with sin. It just defies logic! Modern christianity is a religion of if’s, and’s, but’s and maybe’s, and I am glad to leave it in the rear view.
God’s love is no longer unconditional. Now… it is ONEconditional.
Imagine that you and God are one; distinguishable entities within ONEness. Distinct individuals within the one single unit – one specific organism…… Now, imagine the rest of your existence.
That, IMHO, is the true meaning of Paul’s most quoted term, “en Christo”. Colosians1:27 In us God desires to exhibit the priceless treasure of Christ’s indwelling; every nation will recognize him as in a mirror! The unveiling of Christ in human life completes man’s every expectation. (He is not hiding in history, or in outer space nor in the future, neither in the pages of scripture, he is merely mirrored there to be unveiled within you. Mt 13:44, Gal 1:15, 16) (Toit, Francois Du (2012-07-02). Mirror Bible)
“In Him we live and move and have our being” was written by a pagan poet several hundred years before Christ, and was quoted by Paul. Just another hint that God and man together as ONE has long been the dream of the ages, that was finally realised in Jesus, the Christ.
